I have lived a life until recently of rationalising the irrational, I have the condition known as “Bipolar Affective Disorder”, I would like everyone to understand I don’t see this as a reason to be picked out or discriminated against, in fact until I became aware of my condition I was very successful because of the benefits this so called illness gave me.
That is why I now fight to end the stigma and discrimination associated with all mental health issues as this shouldn’t be seen as an issue to wrongly associate those of us as individuals with a negative label.
I am personally affected by being singled out by my employers and treated differently in a negative way due to my being labelled as mentally ill! I thoroughly object to this! As prior to me and them in turn being aware of my condition I was recognised as what was comically referred to as a captain of industry!
I actively support any and all campaigns which try to address the balance in society towards better understanding and acceptance of those with mental health issues, after all history tells us that we would be a poorer place but for those gifted and talented individuals now known to have been blessed with mental health conditions now unfortunately only seen as being a negative trait and issue when it comes to employment and acceptance in society as an whole.
Yours truly madly,
TBPBMD
