I have lived a life until recently of ration­al­ising the irra­tional, I have the con­di­tion known as “Bipolar Affect­ive Dis­order”, I would like every­one to under­stand I don’t see this as a reason to be picked out or dis­crim­in­ated against, in fact until I became aware of my con­di­tion I was very suc­cess­ful because of the bene­fits this so called ill­ness gave me.

That is why I now fight to end the stigma and dis­crim­in­a­tion asso­ci­ated with all men­tal health issues as this shouldn’t be seen as an issue to wrongly asso­ci­ate those of us as indi­vidu­als with a neg­at­ive label.

I am per­son­ally affected by being singled out by my employ­ers and treated dif­fer­ently in a neg­at­ive way due to my being labelled as men­tally ill! I thor­oughly object to this! As prior to me and them in turn being aware of my con­di­tion I was recog­nised as what was com­ic­ally referred to as a cap­tain of industry!

I act­ively sup­port any and all cam­paigns which try to address the bal­ance in soci­ety towards bet­ter under­stand­ing and accept­ance of those with men­tal health issues, after all his­tory tells us that we would be a poorer place but for those gif­ted and tal­en­ted indi­vidu­als now known to have been blessed with men­tal health con­di­tions now unfor­tu­nately only seen as being a neg­at­ive trait and issue when it comes to employ­ment and accept­ance in soci­ety as an whole.
