Guess what? I too think that Janet fella is an ignorant and obnoxious character. But I agree that self pity is the biggest hurdle for most mental health patients. I'm bipolar, and have been to hell and back. But eventually I realised that fighting myself was useless, I'd never win that battle. Now I wear my "disease" with pride, am completely open about it, and have encountered little if any stigma. That comes from people who don't know the diagnosis, and think I'm just an unpredictable idiot.

Hi Jamey

I agree it's not watertight, maybe be a little creative (not lie) ie training/learning, time out, looking after someone ill (such as yourself, you don’t need to expand, if asked to say you would rather not).
Another issue I thought of right away how the hell can this help someone with an obvious physical disability, including attending an interview in a wheelchair, blind, one arm etc, not something the prospective employer will need to be told of!
At least it does go some way to help us get our foot in the door the opportunity shine in an interview, and more regarding your specific issue will be better for the youngsters coming through without blank areas in their cv, hopefully they will have no need to have that issue going forward in the future, I do hope this is proved to be true for them following us!!!

Yours truly

This is apparently excellent news but........how do I explain the sometimes long gaps in my CV when I have been ill? Isn't it a case of one problem solved, another surfaces????

I totally agree about using a blog to understand yourself better. Mine is also about my experiences of poor mental health and how it has affected my life. I'm sorry to hear that your on a downer I hope that it passes soon. My big problem is psychosis my moods have been stable for quite some time. Keep up the gentle ripping, if we don't do it then who will :)
